Venture Lighting Announces Top Experts for Classes to Educate
Amanda Foust, new director of the Venture Lighting Institute (VLI), has launched a strategic plan to make VLI the world’s leading education center for metal halide lighting solutions. Venture is the world’s only company that is wholly dedicated to the development and manufacture of metal halide lighting.
“The Venture Lighting Institute is launching an intensive ongoing educational series with guest lecturers who are leading industry professionals. This is one of the ways we’re expanding the VLI,” Foust said. The VLI features hands-on activities to assist with applying lighting concepts to real lighting applications.
Two new fall classes have been added to the VLI that target industry trends and lighting challenges. Along with the new classes, the basic fundamentals class is offered as well. A Northeast Ohio event is offered with every VLI to allow visitors to experience the best of our community.
The fall line-up includes:
Fundamentals of Metal Halide, October 15–16, 2008. This two-day class is designed to provide an in-depth understanding of metal halide technology from its invention to the newest trends and developments. Along with a strong basics curriculum, attendees will escape to the rustic Blue Canyon Kitchen & Tavern with famed chef Brandt Evans, who earned his reputation at Kosta’s, a Tremont, N.Y., hot spot. The $500 registration fee includes the class, hotel, food and entertainment.
The Great Debate, November 3, 2008. In this new one-day class, learn the differences between pulse start metal halide and fluorescent systems. The class covers how to apply the best system to lighting challenges in this “Right versus Left” of competing systems.
Local lighting designer Rick Quinlan, of Bandwen-Williams-Kindbom, will lead the class through the debate and assist with lighting designs. Prior to the class, attendees will enjoy a tailgate party at Cleveland Browns Stadium with game tickets for the Cleveland Browns vs. Baltimore Ravens on Sunday, Nov. 2. The $250 registration fee includes the class, Sunday activities, game tickets, hotel and food.
The Green Challenge, December 11, 2008. Learn about green initiatives in pulse start technology and lighting legislation in this one-day, hands-on lighting design class. The focus will be implications of lighting legislation as well as trends and new technology. Gain the knowledge needed to successfully implement energy code solutions using metal halide technology.
Guest trainer Mark Lien, who is an acclaimed expert with more than 30 years of experience in lighting, will lead the energy challenge class. He has attained over six certifications in areas of energy conservation and lighting design. Lien is director of the Lighting Solutions Center located in the international headquarters of Hubbell Lighting in Greenville, S.C.
This class will offer an evening in Cleveland that involves winter tobogganing and a dinner at Cleveland’s original Louisiana-Creole restaurant Fat Fish Blue, which features live blues and jazz bands, such as Scott Celani on this evening. The $250 registration fee includes the class, hotel, tobogganing and dinner.
Seating is limited for these classes. The VLI is located in Streetsboro, Ohio, southeast of Cleveland.
